So many colours – Autumn walk 2012
I think this time of year is one of my favourite times of year. I love the colours autumn offers with all the leaves changing on the trees. I also love the way the cold nips at your face as you walk out your front door.
I think as adults we take too much for granted. As the seasons change we never really stop to look at how beautiful nature and our surroundings are. I know we are lucky enough to live somewhere with beautiful surroundings. But even those who live in the inner cities can stop and admire the beauty of the orange glow of leaves atop an ageing tree.
Having Monkey this year gives me another reason to enjoy Autumn like I’m seeing it through new eyes. We love to babywear Monkey as much as possible and as he is growing he enjoys looking around as we walk. So we talk to him about what we can see.
Yesterday we went on a long autumnal walk. We talked to him about the golden leaves and he looked at them with wonder. I’m sure he may have been thinking about when his next feed was, but I like to think he was thinking about how beautiful the colours were. We crunched through the leaves, I say crunched but it was more squelched as it had been raining that morning and we talked about how next year he will be in wellies kicking through the leaves.
Babywearing in the cold has big advantages, you get a mini radiator to keep you warm and you’re able to keep your precious baby warm too. I made sure to take lots of pictures of us on our walk, as just like the seasons changing, Monkey is changing so very fast. It’s scary to think in just over a month we will be celebrating Monkey’s first (dare I say the word) Christmas.
As we neared the end of our walk Monkey grew tired and snuggled up and placed his little snoozing head against my chest. Which is another advantage of Babywearing. It’s so heart melting when your little one snuggles up close.
Which is your favourite season?
