On Friday night we glammed up to the nines, started drinking at quarter past 3 in the afternoon and prepared ourselves to meet lots of lovely bloggers at the Mad Blog Awards.
We were still pinching ourselves as we walked into the grand venue at the Royal Garden Hotel. We couldn’t believe an idea we had to blog our lives had brought us on such an exciting adventure. Lots of amazing people were going to be in one room, waiting to take home a lovely glass award to adorn their mantle pieces or end up in their downstairs loo.
Clara had been lucky enough to be accessorised by Boden and had found a gorgeous dress in TK Maxx, which we will be writing about in a future post. I had put my outfit together using several of my favourite stores, Primani, Topman and River Island. We were looking forward to not only possibly winning an award, but also being honoured to present an award. Clara was excited to get her makeup done by the lovely ladies from Oriflame, whilst I looked on bemused by all the different makeup items on show.
Once we were allowed into the drinks reception area, the free wine went down very nicely. Everyone discovered that C is much more confident in approaching people than me, unless I am under the influence of alcohol and then I really don’t have any issues in marching over and telling you how much I love you.
Dinner was a silver service affair. I have OCD, which I am sure I will blog about eventually, so the meal time was a bit of an issue for me. But C adored her dinner and it certainly looked like the rest of our table did too. Just as dessert arrived, Sally from Tots100, informed us that the award we were giving out was up first. This seemed to cause us more butterflies than thinking about our own nomination for an award.
Dr Ranj kickstarted the evening and soon we were stood in the wings, waiting to go on stage to open the golden envelope. Once on stage everything happened so fast. We had already agreed that I would say “and the winner is….” whilst C announced…….. Mummy Daddy and me, winner of Best Pregnancy Blog. I was over the moon, I count Katie as a good friend we’ve made through blogging and was so honoured to be presenting her with an award.

As we sat back down at our table, Dr Ranj announced the next award was for Best Baby Blog, the category we were finalists in. C and I exchanged glances, we knew at that moment that we weren’t winners, we just got a feeling it just wasn’t our night. We were right, the award went to the lovely Emma from Crazy With Twins. Once the awards were in full swing, time flew by. Soon Dr Ranj rounded up the award giving and a man called Mr Mozzarella was giving me a bear hug.
This is when we could truly relax and enjoy the evening. More free drinks were consumed, hugs were shared, dancing occurred and I got to stroke lots of people’s awards. I also got to speak to lots of women I find truly inspirational. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was also a nice warm feeling around the room, a strong sense of community, all these wonderful people in one room and C and I got to stand alongside them.
I really hope we get to go next year, to have an award with My Two Mums on, would really be an honour. But also, I’d quite like to experience those warm welcoming arms of the blogging community again and I’m not really one for hugging.
We’d like to thank Sally and the team who made the night possible and also Parentdish for helping to make it all happen. Also a huge thanks to Boden for supplying C with her shoes and bag. She looked stunning.
