It’s been a while since I stood queuing outside a nightclub, eager to order a nice cool drink and dance until my feet hurt. But thanks to Big Fish Little Fish, last weekend we found ourselves in a dark nightclub reaching for the bubbles rather than the lasers, with our little man at our side.
Big Fish Little Fish is a genius idea designed to bring clubbing back to those with children. We were invited down to the Mother’s Day event in Bournemouth which took place in a nightclub that smelled just like a Student Unions bar. The floor was sticky, the drinks were cheap and the company was fab. It was a really awesome afternoon.
As soon as we entered M lead the way to the dance floor, stopping for some colouring in and crafting of a guitar. All the staff are friendly and accommodating, with activities to entertain the children whilst the grown ups throw some shapes on the dance floor. M was quite keen to show off his moves every now and then, especially when the DJ’s started to throw giant balloons into the crowd.
As the rave took place in a nightclub, the bar was fully licenced for the grown ups to enjoy a drink (I was driving so soft drink for me, but as it was Mother’s Day I got Clara a nice cold pint of cider). There was also jugs of free iced water on offer for those that wanted it.
The crafting activities on offer were free, but if your child wanted their face painted or a cake there was a small fee. We went between crafting and the dance floor for a couple of hours, which passed really quickly. Soon we were taking part in a parachute dance before heading for the door into the bright sunlight.
This Big Fish Little Fish rave was actually the second time we’ve attended one of there events. We were lucky enough to attend a Halloween party in London several years ago. Now that M is a bit older he loved getting involved more.
Camp Bestival are working in partnership with Big Fish Little Fish for their series of raves in the run up to the festival. Big Fish Little Fish will be dancing the weekend away at Camp Bestival, so it is totally another reason to take your family to the festival!
We were kindly provided with entry to the rave.
