With a house move on the horizon we were incredibly relieved when Park Resorts contacted us to see if you would like to take a quick weekend break in Bideford last weekend. The caravan park is actually located in a lovely little location just outside of Bideford, North Devon, which meant we got to enjoy some peace and quiet somewhere we’d never visited before.
We jumped in the car straight after work on Friday evening and found ourselves at the caravan site before the sun had set. Our caravan was nice and spacious which was perfect for our little man who loves to have space to play. The site has places you can eat, play and even swim, yet we like to get off site and explore so didn’t make too much use of these facilities but were pleased they were there if we wanted to.
Saturday morning was a perfect morning where we all took our time getting up, showered and dressed before heading out to a local village called Clovelly. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived in Clovelly as they charge an entrance fee just to walk into the village meaning it turned out to be quite an expensive trip. But the views are gorgeous and provided the perfect location to explain to M how an echo works, which was a lovely moment. Sorry to the people enjoying the quietness before my son started singing “Hellooooooo”.
After a very quick visit we decided to head into Bideford town center to have a little lunch. We discovered an adorable little cafe called Gertie’s Cafe. After a round of cheese toasties and hot chocolate we decided to return to the caravan to explore the adventure play area.
During the drive Clara stopped off several times so that M and I could do a spot of geocaching, which was really fun. I love discovering caches in new places as they really are hidden everywhere!
The adventure park back on the site was fantastic. We spent quite a bit of time competing on a mini obstacle course. We also grabbed a drink and some crisps from the bar to enjoy in the sun as it was glorious weather.
Once we put our little man to bed for the night, C and I got to enjoy a glass of wine whilst we watched TV which is something we never do at home. So that was lovely. Things have been so stressful lately, it was nice to be somewhere with no commitments just enjoying each others company.
Sunday morning was just as relaxing as Saturday’s, before we packed up the car, enjoyed the adventure park one last time and got on the road to prepare for work and preschool the next day.
We had such a lovely time and a well deserved break. We can’t wait to get away again.
