I’m pretty fond of my brain, though slightly flawed and forever over thinking, it allows me to communicate in whichever way I wish to. This week is Brain Awareness week, a great week to remind everyone how awesome and precious the brain is. I think too many sadly take their brain for granted.
It was bought to our attention by the lovely Charlotte over at Write like no one’s watching, that some patients at the Royal Hospital of Neuro-disability, are unable to communicate unless there is a very expensive piece of equipment, called an EyeGaze available. The very awesome EyeGaze machines rely on eye movement alone, which allows patients with locked in syndrome and other disabilities to find their voices, just through moving their eyes.
You don’t have to be into tech or a geek to know that these machines really could change someones life. Which is why the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability are raising money during Brain Awareness Week to enable them to continue to support patients using the EyeGaze machines.
If you wish to donate, you can do so here and why not encourage your friends, family and followers to donate by sharing this post or tweeting the following.
