So They All Rolled Over

So They All Rolled Over

Last night whilst we were getting ready for bed I turned to K and asked if Monkey should have rolled over already. K replied with 'All babies do things at different speeds and he'll roll over when the time is right'. I'm not worried about how Monkey is developing but as a new mother I do sometimes wonder what the rough ages are for certain milestones. I must have had a sixth sense. Today Monkey and I went to our Under Ones play group. It was the first session and we both loved…continue reading →
Double beds in maternity wards?

Double beds in maternity wards?

When I read the recent article by the Telegraph about the plans to be proposed to the NHS to install Double beds in Maternity wards, I rolled my eyes. Another article with references to dads, husbands and boyfriends. No mention of other support a mother may have from a girlfriend or wife. Surely this proposal would have an affect on same sex parents too. It's this kind of narrow visioned reporting that stops same sex parenting becoming more mainstream. Even a reference to partners as a sweeping statement would have satisfied me, as…continue reading →
Sandy toes and hearty soups

Sandy toes and hearty soups

This weekend we visited our lovely friends from Devon at our halfway meet up point, Lyme Regis. Lyme Regis is just an hour from each of us and such a lovely little town to visit no matter what time of the year. The last time we met there we decided to start a tradition every time we went. We took a picture of a pregnant C and the lovely Devon dumpling *who featured in our Anywayup Cup review* on a wall by the beach. We thought this would be a lovely idea to…continue reading →
Monkey is 3 Months old

Monkey is 3 Months old

This month we've seen the most changes in Monkey, it's hard to believe he's just 3 months old sometimes. We both feel that we've finally settled into being parents so can enjoy watching Monkey grow and discover all the new things he can do. He continues to enjoy standing whilst supported and even enjoys propelling himself skywards if you let him. His head control continues to improve and he only lets it bob about if he's sleepy. One of the things we've loved watching him do this month is learn to grasp things…continue reading →
Jabs and Cuddles

Jabs and Cuddles

This week Monkey had his second set of jabs to help build his immune system up against all the bugs life is going to throw at him. Sadly this time I didn't get to go with him to the doctors as I had to work. So C was the one on hand to hold him tight and administer cuddles once the Nurse had jabbed him. I didn't realise how it would make me feel not being there for him when he needed me. I know he will never remember this day. But I…continue reading →
The Baby Show – Earls Court – 2012

The Baby Show – Earls Court – 2012

On the 27th October, we attended The Baby Show at Earls Court in London. It's an event we had been looking forward to since we visited The Baby Show at Excel in London at the beginning of the year. We went armed with a long list of exhibitors and products we wanted to look at and we'd spent several hours planning our route around The Baby Show. Our plan went out the window once we saw the bright colours and welcoming faces tempting us towards their products. We decided to attempt to cover…continue reading →
Baby “Routine”

Baby “Routine”

'I've got to get Monkey into a bedtime routine soon' Seems to be my motto at the moment but it never seems to work. I keep telling myself 'awwww he's only . . .' 8 weeks, 10 weeks and now 12 weeks. I'm serious this time though! When Monkey hits 3 months, I'm going to attempt it! In going to try and get Monkey into his own bed. Although I love co sleeping and it makes feeding easier, K and I need our bed back at some point. It may not work and…continue reading →
Dribble and Sit-ups

Dribble and Sit-ups

Our little Monkey is 12 weeks old today and we've seen so many changes.   Over the last week we've seen Monkey make, what we assume to be attempts at sitting up on his own. His level of frustration due to his lack of movement is growing everyday. We both assist him when we see him get frustrated, however we know he'll never learn if we keep propping him up. We recently got a big activity play ring to encourage him to sit for longer periods of time. He has never been that…continue reading →
