Travelling with a baby.

Travelling with a baby.

This weekend we took Monkey away for the first time. What originally began as planning for a trip to Devon and back, turned into a trip to Devon then to Middlesex and back. A total of over 10 hours travelling with a baby. Thankfully not all on the same day. Although four of the hours were and thankfully he slept for all of them. What shocked me was how much we had to pack. Our little Ford KA practically wheezed as we pulled down the drive. I don't think we left a single…continue reading →

IPhoneography – How to use Instagram

I'm a complete Instagram addict. It's easily got to be one of my frequently used apps on my phone. Instagram is an app which allows you to share photos publicly or privately. You can add filters and a description and share it across several different social networks. I'm always looking for more people to follow as I love peaking into other people's lives through their photos. Which is why I've written this post on How to use Instagram. I want more people to use it. So this is my basic guide. If you…continue reading →
Babywearing Week – 2012

Babywearing Week – 2012

C and I knew before Monkey was born that we'd like to babywear with him. We even reviewed a Kari Me sling we'd purchased, that we were eager to use. Little did we know that we would both decide that babywearing was our favourite way to transport Monkey. The slings we use are stretchy and incredibly comfortable, Monkey falls asleep almost every time he's in his sling. We decided on a wrap type sling as it allowed us to feel close to Monkey and he is able to sit in a seated position…continue reading →

Fitness – Gallery Linky

This weeks theme over at the Sticky Fingers Gallery is Fitness. This is a theme that I love. Last year I went on a major health kick. I lost over 30lbs and really changed the way I look. If you ask nicely I may show you the before and after pictures one day. When we found out C was pregnant we had to make some moneysaving moves in our lives, so we gave up our gym memberships. We had to find other ways to keep fit. I love to cycle and walk and…continue reading →
To Co sleep or not to sleep.

To Co sleep or not to sleep.

The question I'm asked most, recently aside from Who's the mum? is So is he sleeping? This question always bemuses and frustrates me in equal measure. I always wonder if the people asking think my son is one of the worlds youngest insomniacs. What kind of answer do they expect? Of course he sleeps. He'd wouldn't be the smiling bright eyed Cuddly boy that he is if he didn't get forty winks every now and then. What they really want to know is if we are getting any sleep. That's what the real…continue reading →
First Baby swim went Swimmingly

First Baby swim went Swimmingly

For the last few weeks C and I have wanted to take Monkey swimming. We are both big swimmers and have missed going for our weekly swim since Monkey arrived. When we first expressed our desire to take Monkey swimming, everyone suddenly had an opinion on when was the best time to take him. Some thought he couldn't go until he'd has his first injections, some thought he needed all his injections and some thought there'd be enough chlorine in the pool to destroy any bugs. We decided it best to ask a…continue reading →
Staying Well

Staying Well

Our little Monkey enjoys his bath time, however he does not like getting dressed, especially since the weather is getting colder. We recently bought a bath seat which is really helpful and allows us to use both hands to wash him. It's on a bit of a slant though and Monkey sometimes has an expression that he's about to fall, which isn't possible but how do you tell a 2 month old that?     The other morning when giving Monkey a bath, not much more could have gone wrong. When taking him…continue reading →
So much stuff

So much stuff

When I was a kid my parents endlessly told me to clear up my things and take them to my room. I used to resent them making me gather up my mess to add to the mess in my room. I used to feel it was my way of making my mark on our home. But the piles of magazines of books always grew and I'd wake up to a stack of my things outside my bedroom door once my parents grew tired of asking me to move them. I never thought I'd…continue reading →
5 things you should avoid saying

5 things you should avoid saying

We know people can say incredibly silly things. We even anticipated people saying these silly things to both of us once Monkey was born. A lot of the things people say relating to Monkey we can brush off. But some things are guaranteed to rub us up the wrong way. So we thought we'd put together a handy list to help those who may cross our path. 1 - Don't refer to K as the second Mum. Parenting is not a competition or a race. K is just as much a mum as…continue reading →
The “Perfect” Mum

The “Perfect” Mum

A couple of days ago I had the most awful day since Monkey was born. He's been suffering with trapped wind and I couldn't get him to settle. He was fighting going to sleep and when he did finally drift off it would only be for 30 minutes maximum and then would cry again. He looked like he was in so much discomfort and I could not ease it despite all of my efforts. I felt like it was my fault that he was in so much pain, after all I'm his mum,…continue reading →
