Poo, pee and puke

Poo, pee and puke

There's nothing quite like the smell of puke at 3am. It's unmistakable. Since we started topping Monkey up with formula his sick started smelling more and more potent. I suggest if you're easily disgusted by things you stop reading now. I'm guessing if you're a parent you're pretty used to it all now, so please continue to read if poo, pee and puke is an everyday thing in your house. I can be certain that if I've just put on a clean t shirt or a new pair of shorts, there's only a…continue reading →

Hospital Bag – Postnatal

You can find a full list of what we packed in my Hospital bag on this post here. Before I had Monkey the big emphasis of the 3rd Trimester was the Hospital Bag. I spent countless hours deciding what I should take and it took me weeks until it was finally ready to go. So I thought I would write a review.   Must Haves X2 Pillows - K and I both used them to help us sleep and for a little home comfort. Really important whilst in hospital. Maternity Towels and Disposable…continue reading →
Sleep is a luxury

Sleep is a luxury

Before Monkey came along I was averaging 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Most nights I'd be in bed around 1ish and sleep through until my alarm went off. I'd had periods of insomnia in my teens and had experienced how shattered you can get without sleep. Yet nothing prepared me for the lack of sleep you can get once your baby arrives. The first few weeks of Monkey's life were all over the place. We were just starting to get the hang of taking turns looking after him during the night, when…continue reading →
Monkey is 1 Month old

Monkey is 1 Month old

C These last 4 weeks have gone by so fast and already I can see so many changes in our little man. It only seems like yesterday that he was looking up at me with that dazed expression and big swollen eyes. I've really started to see his personality come out. It's funny how he's already learning how to get my attention with his different noises, he knows I will always pick him up. I think that he is more aware of his surroundings everyday and opens his eyes wide when he sees…continue reading →
Breast is Best

Breast is Best

We all know that breastfeeding is most certainly the best way to feed your baby and the life long benefits of breastfeeding greatly outweigh those of formula feeding, however what you aren't told is how hard it is! It just seems we are told over and over that Breast is best. I knew from the moment K and I started talking about having children that I wanted to breastfeed but I didn't really give it a lot of thought, even throughout my pregnancy. We did attend a breastfeeding workshop towards the end of…continue reading →

Birth Story – The Other View – Part 2

If you want to read part one of the birth story - The other View, you can here. Once C was relatively pain free, she managed to get a few hours sleep. I took this opportunity to go and get some food. I wasn't feeling too hungry, but I knew C was going to need me in the next few hours so I thought it best to get some energy. Midwives came and went as shifts changed and lunch breaks were taken. Each midwife came with different questions, "how had we found our…continue reading →

Birth Story – Induction Part 2

If you haven't read Part 1 of my Birth Story you can read it here. The epidural was amazing! My pain stopped instantly and the midwife was able to put the hormone drip up high to really get my labour going. Even though I swore to myself that I wouldn't have an epidural, it was the best decision of the whole pregnancy and I wish l had done it sooner. I managed to get some sleep and due to fatigue and the shot of pethadine I pretty much had to rely on K…continue reading →
Surreal Moments

Surreal Moments

Last week K and I sat down with our baby boy to watch the Closing Ceremony to the London Olympics and half way through we all found ourselves dancing around the living room to The Spice Girls. I feel like it was only yesterday that I was playing Scary Spice in my primary school play ground and there I was, singing those memorable lyrics as a mother of the most amazing little person I have ever set eyes on. It was a very surreal moment in my adult life. Have you had any…continue reading →
