Birth Story – The Other View – Part 1

Birth Story – The Other View – Part 1

If you want to read C's point of view of the Birth Story, you can read Part 1 here. We'd finally been booked in for an induction and yet I was so worried they were going to change their minds as we'd been messed about so much. I spent 40 mins in reception worrying that they were going to tell us they had no room and send us home. Luckily it was meant to be and they had just been sorting a large private room. As we walked into the room, I had…continue reading →
So who’s the Mum?

So who’s the Mum?

Since C and I decided which of us was going to carry our first baby *to be honest it wasn't a hard decision* the thoughts of how we would be accepted as parents entered my mind. I knew our friends and family would have no issues with recognising us both as parents. I was just concerned people outside our bubble would find our situation difficult to accept. During C's pregnancy my presence in appointments was never much of an issue. C got used to introducing me as soon as we stepped through the…continue reading →
Light Therapy Blues

Light Therapy Blues

So I'm currently sitting in a private room on the maternity ward looking at my poor baby boy in his incubator, where he is undergoing light therapy for jaundice. This is the 2nd night of treatment & I don't know why but I'm finding it extremely tough & upsetting, much more so than last night. I think I may have been in shock yesterday & didn't take it all in. I think the fact that I had tried to convince myself that we were all going home tonight hasn't helped. K has also…continue reading →
Prepare for an induction.

Prepare for an induction.

If you read our post about C's Wonky liver. You'll know that an induction was on the cards. We just didn't know when.   We had been told to return the next day for more tests. I spent the whole night worrying. Every hour was an hour my baby was potentially at risk. Saturday morning arrived, we made the last few checks of the hospital bags and set off at lunchtime. Almost as soon as we arrived, C was on the monitor. It was tense, no mention of an induction. That was until…continue reading →
Cholestasis – My wonky liver

Cholestasis – My wonky liver

Friday evening we decided to splash out on a spicy meal to enjoy the opening ceremony with. We were secretly hoping the extra chilli's would get baby moving and we'd have an incredible story to tell them of their birth. Unfortunately as soon as our food touched our plates my phone rang with a call from my hospital consultant. I had been in for a repeat blood test for Cholestasis (a condition of the liver) that morning. Naively I thought as they hadn't rang that all was well. Boy was I wrong. In…continue reading →
It could be this, or possibly that..

It could be this, or possibly that..

As you may already know from our previous post, we've had a few scares this week which resulted in spending 3 days in hospital.   Over the past few weeks I have been suffering with small headaches, dizziness and nausea. I had been keeping a close eye on my symptoms, however at my last midwife appointment they found protein in my sample, which of course is not a good sign and we heard the words we've been dreading "It may be Preeclampsia". I was told that if my headaches persisted or if I…continue reading →
