Happiness – It’s all in the small details

Happiness – It’s all in the small details

Sometimes when life gets busy, we are all at risk of entering a form of tunnel vision. Life can be incredibly exhausting and draining, but it can also be lots of fun. Being happy can be effortless, if you just look at the small details. Lots of little things make us happy at the moment. So we thought we would share them. C - Mummy Watching Monkey wake Mama up in the morning. He says Mama then gives her a big kiss and a cuddle Singing and dancing as a family to silly…continue reading →
Happy Birthday C

Happy Birthday C

Today is my best friends 25th Birthday. It’s the 5th birthday I’ve been lucky enough to share with her (although technically she was out of the country on one of her birthdays) and I feel very blessed that I get so share this day with her. My wife C means the world to me, I have loved watching her grow and change over the last 6 years. Each year she continues to provide me with something new to fall in love with about her. Last year we didn’t really get to celebrate her…continue reading →
Back to Work

Back to Work

I've been sitting here looking at the screen and thinking what to write about. I've been coming back for days now. I've got writers block or bloggers block haha. Tonight I'm just going to talk to you all. I've been on a bit of a low recently. Monkey has been teething, which means grumpy, sore baby and on top of that he's picked up a horrendous cold. I think we're over the worst now and on a plus, we have a rather impressive top set of teeth to show for it. In a…continue reading →

Childhood to Motherhood

Today, my mum had to be sedated to have a tooth removed. She has a serious phobia of the dentist and has been known to kick the doctor whilst under sedation in the past. When she walked in the door, I could tell she was in pain and just not her usual self. I got that familiar feeling I used to feel when I was a child and my mum was sick. I get really uneasy and very unsure what to do with myself. The entire routine of our household used to completely…continue reading →
Hopefully you’ll start seeing less of us

Hopefully you’ll start seeing less of us

I've had a DVD sitting on our bookshelves collecting dust, for the last few years. Each time I have an ounce of motivation towards getting fit, I look over at the DVD and tell myself i'll start it next week. A few days ago the lovely Charlotte from Write Like No One's Watching, inspired me to dust off the DVD, grab C and her little brother and commit to the 30 Day Shred. We've both been watching what we eat since we started Porridge on Tuesday, a food plan designed to help you lose…continue reading →
Wide Open Spaces

Wide Open Spaces

We're incredibly conscious of the fact that the gorgeous light evenings we've been having, will soon come to an end. We are very lucky to be surrounded by some fantastic wide open spaces and we like to make use of them. So a few nights a week, we pop M into his Smart trike and take him to the park. It's the perfect time of day to go, there's usually no children in the park, which means we can wander from slide to swing and back again, without fear of M getting knocked…continue reading →
The big bad I said No

The big bad I said No

Recently I've felt that all I've said to Monkey is no. M is such a mobile, independent little man and he's started to explore his boundaries. I feel we've done quite a good job of baby proofing, but there are still places around the house that little fingers shouldn't be. As much as I try to find another way to explain why M shouldn't be hitting the television or putting his hands down the toilet, the first word that finds its way to my lips is no. Monkey knows that no is a…continue reading →
10 things we’ve learnt in our first year as parents

10 things we’ve learnt in our first year as parents

Now that we've safely made it to a year of parenting, even though we have a long winding path ahead of us, we thought we'd share our 10 things we've learnt in our first year as parents. 1 - There is nothing in the world that can prepare you for becoming a parent. Owning a pet, keeping a plant alive or looking after someone else's child, doesn't come close to the reality of that first frightening moment when you get home from the hospital with your first child and look at your partner…continue reading →
Monkey Turns One – Our day out

Monkey Turns One – Our day out

After M's fantastic space party, we had high expectations for his actual birthday. The day before, we spent the afternoon in Toys R Us buying last minute presents. M has recently had a huge developmental growth and was really bored of the toys he had. We made sure we bought plenty of noisy toys that required him to practice his motor skills and also lots of books we could all read together. We spent the evening wrapping and getting his presents ready for the morning and then we made sure we got to…continue reading →
and then he was 1

and then he was 1

Last month our Me and Mine family portrait was our last "official" Me and Mine family picture with M as a 0yr old. It's been a very busy month, we went on our first family holiday and also planned a 1st birthday party, where M got to eat his first birthday cake. We decided to take our Family photo in Bournemouth after we visited the aquarium. M was really tired, he'd opened lots of presents, eaten lots of cake and had squealed at lots of fish. So please excuse his slightly grumpy look,…continue reading →
