Finding our allies at Britmums Live

Finding our allies at Britmums Live

On Friday the 20th we headed into London to attend our third Britmums Live. Thanks to Bump Pr Sponsoring us to buy our tickets and Smoking Gun Pr sponsoring our Hotel/Travel and Clara's Mum kindly looking after M, we were ready to have a great weekend in London. We were most excited about seeing Kara who blogs at Innocent Charms Chats as we had planned to pop our Five Guys restaurant cherries and kidnap her for a few drinks at G-A-Y bar. It took us roughly two and a half hours to drive into…continue reading →
Happy Mama’s Day!

Happy Mama’s Day!

Happy Mamas Day! Oh yes, that's right, we have re-invented the day. When we were expecting our little Monkey, a few conversations came up, which I'm sure wouldn't have happened if we were a man and woman. It's inevitable and didn't bother us in the slightest. One of those conversations was about Mothers Day and Fathers Day. Would we share Mother's Day? What would happen on Father's Day? Etc. . . Etc. . . We both agreed straight away we wanted a day each. We want to be able to spoil each other…continue reading →
Do you think you can sleep for success?

Do you think you can sleep for success?

It is quite fair to say that since becoming parents, we put our little man first. He's our world and we want to make sure we do everything possible to ensure he has the best start in the world. Quite often at the end of our working day once our little man is in bed, we spend our spare time doing housework, binge watching Netflix or fitting in some study time. It seems like our lives should come second to our little dude's, so we've put quite a bit on hold to ensure…continue reading →
Proud of my identity

Proud of my identity

This weekend Clara and I have enjoyed a Season 3 Orange is the new Black, binge. We love the series and were happy to see it back on our Netflix. I won't be sharing any spoilers here as we haven't finished this season and have managed to avoid all spoilers, so I want to respect others still watching. But what I will say is an episode really struck a chord with me. One of my favourite characters is Boo, played by the awesome Lea DeLaria. This season delves into the background stories of…continue reading →
Safety in the kitchen with LockBlock by Joseph Joseph

Safety in the kitchen with LockBlock by Joseph Joseph

Both Clara and I love to cook in the kitchen. We've quite a small kitchen, so all the important items sit on the counter tops. This includes our knife block and knives. But thanks to Joseph Joseph and their revolutionary creation, the LockBlock (£60.00), we don't have to worry about our little man harming himself with the kitchen knives. The LockBlock has a clever design that locks knives safely inside the block and requires an adult-sized hand to operate a clasp on the side. This means that most children aged 5 and under…continue reading →
Star Bright Toddler Bed

Star Bright Toddler Bed

Our little man has generally been a good sleeper since birth. He loves to sleep and sleeps very well through the night. But the only issue we suffered was getting him to sleep in the first place. When M was very small we co-slept, he then moved into a cot, where we had to sit next to until he drifted off to sleep. Then it was time to move into a bigger bed and we were kindly sent a Star Bright Toddler Bedby HelloHome, to make the move into a fun toddler bed,…continue reading →
Drop two jean sizes – Giveaway

Drop two jean sizes – Giveaway

Last year I discovered Thinking Slimmer which really kick-started my healthy weight loss and changed the way I looked at food. This year I was offered the Drop two jean sizes slimpod and a chocoholic pod to review and I couldn't be happier. I have been vlogging my weekly updates on my personal YouTube channel and have really seen some positive changes. I am fitting into smaller clothes, feeling more energised and am able to walk down the chocolate aisle at the supermarket, without buying anything. The slimpods are perfect for those like…continue reading →
You’re not my role model

You’re not my role model

This week the news has been alive with the buzz about the very stunning Caitlyn Jenner. I've seen folk on social media who've never been aware of the transgender community, discussing how beautiful she is, likening her to the gorgeous Jessica Lange and actively discussing topics to increase their understanding. This is fantastic, this is something we need in the world and it makes me happy to see. But with everything that happens in the world, where there is positivity, negativity doesn't stray too far. I started to become aware of a few articles…continue reading →
With Thanks

With Thanks

Last night we found out we'd made it into the Best Family Fun category of the Mad Blog Awards. Since we started our blog in January 2012, we have had the pleasure of attending the awards for three years running. I find this incredibly moving. When we started this blog, we just wanted to document our pregnancy and capture Monkey's mile stones along the way. Kirsty had always wanted to start a blog and I thought it would be a good idea, so My Two Mums was created. Little did we know we…continue reading →
Geocaching with Mountain Warehouse

Geocaching with Mountain Warehouse

A few months ago Mountain Warehouse got in touch and asked me a few questions about Geocaching. I was happy to answer as I've been a huge fan of geocaching for years. I was also lucky enough to be sent some of their fab range to wear when out geocaching, which I have been testing to the max. In April Mountain Warehouse launched a fun giveaway to inspire people to get out and start Geocaching. They provided free sheep trackables at their stores and sent me one so I could join in too.…continue reading →
