Many fab family moments in 2016

Many fab family moments in 2016

I know it is easy to look back on 2016 as the year so much went wrong for many. But it is also the year so much when right for our little family. We started the year with a mission to have as many fab family moments as possible in 2016 and I feel we achieved it and more! At the start of the year we took part in a Sport Relief event with our friends which pushed us to get prepared for our Spartan Race towards the end of the year. It…continue reading →
He’s a reader!

He’s a reader!

Ever since M could talk well, he was able to recite his bedtime books back to us. He would sit with the book open and tell us the story we'd just read to him. It was quite impressive and even though I knew he wasn't reading the pages I loved how much he adored books. Since starting school this year we have seen this love grow and grow. About a month ago I sat down with M to read his Biff and Kipper book with him. He took it from my hands and…continue reading →
Our biggest change

Our biggest change

If you are regular readers you will be aware that 7 months ago our rented accommodation fell through when our house was sold. We literally had no where new to move to and luckily had the opportunity to stay with family whilst we found somewhere new to rent. Except we couldn't find anywhere to rent. Clara scrolled Right Move every single day and tensions rose as we started to wonder when we would be back in a house as our little family unit. Then a family member suggested some new build houses that…continue reading →
We are all winging it

We are all winging it

The other day a lovely family we follow on Instagram prompted me to share the fact I feel we are all winging it when it comes to parenting. There are norms and values we teach our children within the family and at school, but when it comes to parenting, we pretty much learn as we go along. So often I see parents beating themselves up about decisions they have made or wondering what they did to deserve what ever has gone wrong, but really, we are all in this together, we are all winging…continue reading →
Always time for the beach

Always time for the beach

The last few weeks have been just one big blur of busy. Pretty much everyone has been sick with some sort of virus and we are packing up cardboard boxes again as we stand on the cusp of another house move. We think it is important to find time to get outside and enjoy some family time, so last weekend we took a couple of hours out of our busy day to visit Weymouth beach with friends. It was cold and windy and required hot chocolate to warm us up, but vital minutes…continue reading →
Like a girl

Like a girl

Two mums with the task of raising a son poses many interesting challenges. Having never had experience with boys, for myself in particular it is a complete learning curve. I grew up with a sister in a very female heavy bloodline. My best friend was a boy whilst I was growing up, but we never really discussed the things you might want to know when attempting to raise a son. There are the obvious physical differences which to be honest haven't caused any issues. We've friends whom are raising sons who answered any…continue reading →
My long journey of home study

My long journey of home study

This week marks the end of my long journey of home study and with only one more assessment to complete, this small but tiring part of my life comes to an end but opens up a whole world of opportunities for me and my family. It began back in September 2014 when I decided to take a GCSE Maths class one evening a week, which I hoped would lead to me finally gaining my grade C qualification. When I was at school I struggled with numbers and my teachers might as well of…continue reading →
A full week at school

A full week at school

Today will mark the end of M's first full week at school. It's technically the end of his third week, but the first week were just half days, so today is his "official" first week. We've had to completely change our routine to revolve around his school hours. I was lucky enough to be able to change my hours to allow me to pick him up from school and Clara has taken on the role of dropping him into school. This not only allows us to spend time with M on our own before and…continue reading →
We are now part of the GoPro Family

We are now part of the GoPro Family

Two years ago we took on an adventure that would give us a life changing experience. Armed with a GoPro we captured our family adventures over a few weeks and submitted a final video to a competition to win a trip to the GoPro Mountain Games. Although we were confident we had put our all into it, we were up against tough competition and knew the videos were of high quality. So we were over the moon when we were announced as the winners by Tots100. This is the video which won us the…continue reading →
The first day of school

The first day of school

I feel like we'd been preparing for the first day of school for the last year. I remember writing about how we had one year to go and feel ever since we've been on a uphill stroll towards the first day of school. It really does only seem like yesterday we were bringing M home from hospital and getting used to being parents to a new born little boy. Now as I write this M has just completed his first week of half days at his new primary school and we prepare for…continue reading →
