New Year, New Adventures

New Year, New Adventures

As 2017 came to an end we decided that the New Year would bring lots of new adventures. 2017 passed so fast with so many new changes that we felt we didn't get to enjoy as many adventures as we had wanted to. So 2018's goals were to enjoy the moments more and spend more time experiencing things rather than spending on material items. What better way to set this goal firmly in our sights than by heading to our favourite beach with M's new bike, Beau and a promise of a hot…continue reading →
Moors Valley Park final adventure

Moors Valley Park final adventure

We chose to spend one of our final full days of adventure with M in 2017 at one of our favourite places, Moors Valley Park. The time off over Christmas is one of the longest times we get all together as a family of three, so it was important to us to make the most of every minute. Illness and various things had got in the way of us getting out more over Christmas, so Moors Valley seemed the perfect location to take in the fresh air and just enjoy each others company.…continue reading →
Skating in the Square, Dorchester – 2017

Skating in the Square, Dorchester – 2017

Ever since I was a child I held the view that ice skating at Christmas is possibly one of the most Christmassy things you can do. I think it comes from memories of so many Christmas films where people smoothly skate across rinks in their hats and scarves. When Clara was pregnant we went to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland where I spent about ten minutes edging round the side of an ice rink wondering why I thought it was a good idea. But it was something I still saw as a special memory,…continue reading →
December 2017 – Home Life Project

December 2017 – Home Life Project

I did it, I finally managed to capture my Home Life Project photos on the actual day I planned to. I was desperate to capture the memories of putting our Christmas decorations up for the 2nd Christmas at our home. We decided to build up our Christmas decoration collection over the years and have managed to add some really lovely items to our home this year. One of  my most favourite things we have added this year are outdoor lights. We have never owned outdoor Christmas lights, so it was quite a special…continue reading →
Endless Energy

Endless Energy

If I could bottle M's energy I would. We would almost certainly be millionaires if we could sell it to parents that need a little energy after keeping up with their own bundles of endless energy. When I dreamed about having a son I always imagined an active little boy, racing around the house, riding a bike in the garden and climbing trees in the woods. Boy did we get what I dreamed about. Ever since M was small he just can't stay still. He started walking at 8 months, I'm sure just…continue reading →
Warmer dog walks with Millets

Warmer dog walks with Millets

Now that November is almost over we are finally able to take Beau to some of our favourite beaches. The beach can be a tad cool this time of year, but it's incredibly beautiful when the sun shines. Thanks to some rather fab coats and shoes from Millets we are able to enjoy some warmer dog walks as Winter approaches. Traditionally this is the time of year we seek warmth and comfort in the home. But now that we are dog owners we are spending much more time outdoors, in rain or shine.…continue reading →
Bagging the best Black Friday Bargains

Bagging the best Black Friday Bargains

This post is sponsored content Clara and I are not really lovers of high street shopping. We've both worked in retail and have many memories of busy shopping centres around Christmas time. We tend to do all our Christmas shopping online and recently started looking at bagging the best Black Friday bargains to beat the rush on the high street. We're almost done with Christmas shopping for M as we don't buy him a huge amount. But there are a few things around the home we've been looking at purchasing lately so we…continue reading →
Halloween at Upton Country Park

Halloween at Upton Country Park

I am one of those parents that loves Halloween and wants to make the most of the event as much as possible. Which lead to us searching for somewhere Halloween themed to take M in the run up to the 31st. We didn't visit our usual pumpkin patch this year, so we thought we'd visit somewhere different and Upton Country Park ticked all the boxes. We got M dressed in his favourite Jogging suit and headed to Upton a few days before Halloween. It's quite local to us, which is perfect when you've…continue reading →
Staying safe online

Staying safe online

Our son has been able to use an iPad from at least a year when he started to play basic baby apps on an old device we had. We didn't really have to worry about his online safety too much then as we kept the device locked down to just the apps we wanted him to play. Now that he's five and very much into Netflix, YouTube and Minecraft, we are often known to hand him our devices when out and about. Our devices are not as locked down as his tablet, so…continue reading →
Exile – LGBTQ Exhibition, Kingston Lacy

Exile – LGBTQ Exhibition, Kingston Lacy

Last year we became National Trust members. Just after our decision to join there was an  announcement that they were going to explore LGBTQ heritage of Kingston Lacy as part of the Prejudice and Pride programme, 50 years after the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality. As Kingston Lacy is our local National Trust site, we were incredibly honoured when we were contacted to attend the exhibition and to be filmed sharing our thoughts on what we viewed. Exile is an emotive exhibition that raises awareness about the tragic history surrounding William John Bankes, a…continue reading →
