Dearest Boy

Dearest Boy

My Dearest Baby Boy, This is a letter from Mummy, especially for you. Soon you will be turning 1 years old and I feel like the proudest mummy in the whole wide world. I didn't know how much I would love you until the day you came into my life. You were placed on my chest and I could have burst with love. You're Mama and I willed you to take you're first breath and when it finally came it was such a beautiful sound. Please don't be sad if Mummy sheds a…continue reading →
Mummy Needs A Cuddle

Mummy Needs A Cuddle

My role as a mother is starting to change and I'm not sure I'm taking it very well. Since my little Monkey has started toddling he has discovered his toys and loves to interact with them. I love watching this but he doesn't want to play with Mummy as much now *all by myself lol*. Before M was mobile he needed me to do everything for him. I was the one who transported him from place to place, chose his toys and played with him, but not now. He loves to toddle around…continue reading →
Monkey’s First Shoes

Monkey’s First Shoes

Today we witnessed another milestone for Monkey, we went to Clarkes to purchase his first shoes. We had his feet measured a few weeks ago, but as he was still taking tumbles, we didn't feel he was up to walking about outside. M seems to have progressed really well and has been walking around the garden more and more. So we felt it was time to kit him out with his first shoes. We had done our research before we visited Clarkes and had already settled on a pair of Doodles. They offer…continue reading →
Spaghetti, Balls and Bubbles Messy Play

Spaghetti, Balls and Bubbles Messy Play

This weekend we decided to embark on another Messy Play adventure. Since our previous attempt at Messy play had been a success, we decided to increase the scale this time and add something a bit more sensory. We were inspired by Jennie who blogs over atĀ Edspire. to dye some spaghetti Pink and Purple in honor of her Messy Play for Matilda, which has a pink and purple theme this week. We had asked for ideas over twitter as we needed something edible and safe for Monkey, as he still puts things in his…continue reading →
Fun in the garden begins

Fun in the garden begins

Now that we've had a few days of sun, we've found time to venture out to have fun in the garden. The garden at our old home was tiny and covered in stones, so we are making the most of having some grass, a trampoline and a nice open space for Monkey to practice his walking. The first time his bare little toes touched the grass, he wasn't so sure. I guess we take things like that for granted, it's far to easy to forget to 'feel' the things we encounter every day…continue reading →
A New Adventure Every Day

A New Adventure Every Day

His eyes light up at the sight of the remote across the room, a helping hand from Mama and he stands on his own two feet. Just a few steps to reach it, but a whole room of exciting sights and sounds to distract him from his mission. A musical toy starts singing and suddenly it seems as though the mission grab remote has been terminated. This toy is closer, just out of arms reach, but our little man loves an adventure, so decides this poses no challenge. As Mama moves to put…continue reading →
One small step for Monkey, one giant leap for Mama

One small step for Monkey, one giant leap for Mama

It was just a few weeks ago that we were celebrating our little boy discovering he could move his body across the floor. In terms of progress, he doesn't seem too interested in perfecting his army crawl anymore. For the last week M has only been happy standing on his two feet. Monkey loves nothing more than standing, holding on to the sofa and jabbering away. After a few slips and slides he realised he could move his feet and shuffle along the sofa to grab remotes and Xbox controllers or an unattended…continue reading →
Messy Play – Custard in the Bath

Messy Play – Custard in the Bath

Since Monkey started to become interested in the world around him, we've been looking at ways we can make activities fun. I am a big lover of Pinterest and one of the most common pins I see in my feed are activities called Messy Play. A lot of these activities were for older children, or at least children who had stopped putting things in their mouths. As M falls into the category of children still putting everything they pick up, into their mouth, I knew we had to find an activity with baby…continue reading →
Monkey’s First Tooth

Monkey’s First Tooth

As you may have heard, our little Monkey finally got his first tooth last week. I thought he would look strange, as I'm just so used to looking at his gummy smile but it's so adorable. We had a tough start to last week as the tooth broke through the gum. Last Monday was K's birthday but we made the best out of the situation, its just one of those things! We've almost been brought to tears hearing M make the most heart wrenching screams but it all seems to have calmed down…continue reading →
We like to party

We like to party

This weekend Monkey was lucky enough to attend his first ever children's birthday party. Our lovely friends from Devon, asked us to help their little Devon Dumpling celebrate turning two. When we found out the party was being held at a soft play centre, we were very excited. M loves going to soft play and since he's become more mobile, he loves interacting with toys around him.   We were really impressed with the facilities at the soft play, aside from the standard foam soft play area, there was a baby area designed…continue reading →
