Perfecting the Army Crawl

Perfecting the Army Crawl

Last night we moved in to a new home to start a new chapter in our lives. The home we were living in previously was nice and cosy but didn't really offer somewhere for M to lay or sit on the floor. Our front door opened straight on to the living room, so even with lots of mopping and hoovering, we always felt it was too grimy to let a baby learn to crawl on. The new house has a gorgeous carpet in our main living area and rugs throughout the rest of…continue reading →
Flowers for Mother’s Day

Flowers for Mother’s Day

The weekend of Mother's Day, C, Monkey and I were many miles from Dorset, visiting my childhood home for the last time ever. My parents are moving to Dorset to be closer to us all and I wanted one last look at the house. We hadn't made any plans or activities for Mother's Day as we weren't sure what was going on in the area. Monkey had got C a card and a present but due to being away from home he hadn't got her flowers. After a bit of planning we went…continue reading →
Monkey makes a mess for Nanna

Monkey makes a mess for Nanna

Several weeks ago whilst trying not to purchase everything in Hobbycraft, I came up with the idea of trying to print M's feet and hands onto canvas. When M was about 4 months old, C got to make prints of his feet at his baby group. I was sad I hadn't been a part of the fun, this time I was going to be involved in the mess. We also thought it would be a great present for his Nanna on Mother's Day. We purchased a canvas and some baby safe paint all…continue reading →
An evening walk full of wonders

An evening walk full of wonders

Since the evenings started getting lighter, it's become a bit of a tradition to go for a walk once M's had dinner and a bath. We wrap him up nice and warm in to his pushchair and set off for a walk round our local park. It started off as a way for me to spend time with M after work and as a bonus get some much needed exercise. It's become my favourite time of the day and has progressed into a walk involving discovering new sounds and sights. As we wander…continue reading →
Weekend walk and Softplay

Weekend walk and Softplay

This weekend we took advantage of the beautiful weather. As soon as we were up, clothed and fed we were out the door. C always laughs that it takes us twice as long to get anywhere as I have to stop to take pictures. This time of year is a great time to take pictures. Spring is so close and the trees are still bare, they allow for great pictures against a rare blue sky. If you've seen my Theflippinmonkey Instagram account you will see how much I love photographing trees. It was…continue reading →
Coping with a cold

Coping with a cold

This week Monkey came down with his first ever snotty and snuffly nosed cold. One thing I've learnt from my son is, he handles colds a lot better than I do. I mean, look at this picture, does this look like a poorly baby? But even though he looks the picture of good health, he really has been suffering. Our lovely friends in Devon introduced us to the product Snuffle Babe which is pretty much Vicks for babies, but doesn't smell as strong. We've been rubbing it on his chest and back each…continue reading →
It’s Snow joke.

It’s Snow joke.

When it's comes to the weather, C and I are polar opposites in our temperature preferences. C loves the sun, hot days and drinking an ice cold cola, where as I love the snow, being able to wrap up on chilly days and hot chocolate. As soon as snow was predicted last week I was a little excited at the prospect of Monkey getting to see his first ever snow. As you've probably noticed from our posts, we love to celebrate firsts and milestones. I think it's important to enjoy those moments you…continue reading →
