Capturing Colour – Orange is the happiest colour

Capturing Colour – Orange is the happiest colour

Frank Sinatra once said (or so the internet said) "Orange is the happiest colour". I would have to agree with him. When we started this week of capturing colour, I was a bit worried I wouldn't find much orange. When really, it's been right in front of me almost every day. I found it on M's favourite blanket, on his pajamas, in the park he laughs and giggles in and on one of his favourite t-shirts, we even found it as we enjoyed one of our happiest days this month. Orange is a…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Mellow Yellow

Capturing Colour – Mellow Yellow

This week has been one of my favourite Capturing Colour weeks. Yellow is such a happy friendly colour which makes me smile, so seeing the hashtag on Instagram light up brightly has been fab. I have loved how more and more people join in each week. What started as an idea I had about looking for colour in life  to make me happy, has turned into a nice little community of people sharing the colour in their lives. We've been busy capturing blue, red, green and purple and now yellow for the last 5 weeks…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Purple people eater

Capturing Colour – Purple people eater

This post has absouletly nothing to do with a purple people eater, but I do love the song and have been busy capturing the colour purple this week. If you aren't familiar with our photography project, we have been capturing colour for the last 4 weeks. We've already captured blue, red and green and now we've captured purple. I honestly found it hard to capture any purple. If I had spent a significant time with my mum this week, it would have been easy. Her favourite colour is purple and she has a…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – The Grass is greener.

Capturing Colour – The Grass is greener.

I am really enjoying our Capturing Colour photography project, so far we've captured blue and red and I've really enjoyed seeing what everyone is capturing over on Instagram. This week the colour we've been capturing is Green. We live in the countryside and are constantly surrounded by green. Snapping away at the landscape is one of my favourite pastimes, so it's obvious that the countryside would feature heavily in this post. We've recently been blessed with lovely warm, light evenings, which means trips to the park and walks around our local field. M…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Seeing Red

Capturing Colour – Seeing Red

For 6 weeks, starting last week, we've been capturing colour everywhere we go. We are really enjoying the challenge this provides and it's given me something exciting to stretch my photography skills with. Last week the colour we captured was blue, it was interesting how we noticed blue in places we'd not been aware of. This week our colour was red and I found far more red around than I had blue. It seemed to be everywhere, flowers I passed on the street, fruit in the fridge and t-shirts on the washing line.…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Blue moments.

Capturing Colour – Blue moments.

For the last week 6 blogs and their authors/photographers have been capturing colours as part of a photography project, more to the point, one colour in particular. This weeks capturing colour was blue and boy have I enjoyed capturing it. Blue is my favourite colour, most of my wardrobe is blue, I once dyed my hair blue and it's a colour that despite it's association with sadness, it actually makes me really happy. The sky displays itself in some beautiful shades of blue, the sea can be a sparkling blue, my son's favourite toy…continue reading →

Capturing Colour – Photography Project

We like to see the happiness around us, no matter how small, we like to look for something that makes us smile. On a dark day a laugh or random act of kindness can mean the world to someone. This is something I've taken into photography lately. I love looking for the small details, the light when most can see only dark, the flicker of red in a sea of grey. I thought it would be a great idea to start a 6 week photography project capturing colour around us. I like even…continue reading →
