Our Christmas favourites on Netflix

Our Christmas favourites on Netflix

Today our little man finished school for Christmas. Our Christmas festivities can officially begin and what better way to share my love of Christmas than by sharing our Christmas favourites on Netflix. I make sure I watch at least one Christmas movie a week during December and have gradually convinced M to watch the odd Christmas movie with me too. In fact I have a Christmas movie on whilst I type this. There are so many Christmas themed movies and TV shows to watch this month on Netflix, so I'd love to hear your…continue reading →
Why is the magic so important?

Why is the magic so important?

I am one of those people who believes in keeping a little magic alive for children as long as possible. I am not unrealistic in my expectations of how long children believe in the tooth fairy, Easter bunny or Father Christmas. But I do try my best to make the magic in childhood important. I know there are people who don't feel we should "lie" to our children, that wish to remove all magic as soon as possible, but that is not for me. But if that works for them and their children,…continue reading →

A Vintage Christmas – Tank Museum, Dorset

A Vintage Christmas – Tank Museum, Dorset

For our little man's first Christmas my mum suggested we take him to the Tank Museum to see Santa arrive on a tank. He spent most of the time in a sling asleep, but we enjoyed ourselves so took him back the following year where he really got involved with the Vintage Christmas event. This year we hadn't planned to attend as we had already booked M to see Santa elsewhere, but due to a change in plans and an empty day, we decided to race across Dorset to see Santa arrive on…continue reading →

December 2016 – Home Life Project

December 2016 – Home Life Project

At the start of the year a fab lady we know created Home Life Project. A lovely photography project designed to get you to capture life in your home for one specific day in the month.  I loved the idea and joined in in January and February, before we were suddenly told we wouldn't have a house at the end of April. For those months I was quite sad about capturing somewhere that wasn't really our home to capture, so I put the project to one side. But all that changed at the…continue reading →
Christmas Day 2015

Christmas Day 2015

This Christmas we spend the day as a three. Each year we alternate between spending the day with our family or spending it on our own. It allows us to make sure our parents get to experience the joy of seeing their grandson open his presents on Christmas Day at the same time as giving us some years where the memories are all at ours. We enjoyed a pretty relaxed Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, with M and Clara not getting out of their pj's at all. We had decided, last minute, that…continue reading →
Christmas at Haynes Motor Museum

Christmas at Haynes Motor Museum

For the last three years we have taken our little man to the Tank Museum for Christmas. As he's grown he's shown more and more of an interest in cars, so my mum decided to treat us all to a trip for Christmas at Haynes Motor Museum. Haynes Motor Museum love Christmas just as much as anyone and set up a Christmas Elf trail. On arrival we collected an activity sheet and searched for 14 Elves and their friends hidden around the Museum. The activity sheet is suitable for children of reading age,…continue reading →
Discovering Christmas

Discovering Christmas

With both Clara and I working full time, all our weekends are dedicated to getting into the Christmas spirit. We are so conscious of how fast Christmas day is approaching, so we want to make every moment with M as magical as possible. With Christmas parties, family visits and Christmas shopping taking up a few of our free days before Christmas, we have very few days set aside for discovering Christmas. But that doesn't stop us from being spontaneous and making the weekends special for our little dude. Our day today started with…continue reading →
