Christmas Lights in London – 2014

Christmas Lights in London – 2014

Long before M arrived in our lives, Clara and I imagined ourselves taking our children on a trip to see the Christmas lights in London. We both had lovely memories of wandering down Oxford Street or round Covent Garden, taking in the sights and Smells of Christmas. Theses memories were something we wanted to be able to create for our children and so the annual trip to see the Christmas lights in London was planned for the final Sunday before Christmas. We had all discussed what we wanted to do during our trip.…continue reading →
Wartime Christmas Festival – 2014

Wartime Christmas Festival – 2014

For the last three years, we've taken M to the Tank Museum for their annual Wartime Christmas Festival. It's a lovely little event that takes you back in time to explore the various tanks on display, visit Santa, browse local business stalls and have a go at some craft activities. It's usually quite a big family trip and one we always look forward to. This year's trip was tinged with some sadness. Our dear little nan was a huge lover of the Tank Museum and treated us to the trip last year. We…continue reading →
Christmas Family Wishlist

Christmas Family Wishlist

I love Christmas and the magic that it brings. Now that we are parents I feel that we hold this huge responsibility to keep the magic burning for our little dude and to be honest, I don't mind in the slightest. I don't find it hard to imagine how excited a child is at Christmas, partly because I'm still a very big kid at heart. Clara and I always agreed that we would create Christmas traditions to enjoy with our family and have started to compile a Christmas family wishlist to tick off…continue reading →
Special Message from Portable North Pole (PNP)

Special Message from Portable North Pole (PNP)

I first discovered the Portable North Pole site a few years ago. I created a couple of videos for various loved ones and enjoyed seeing their faces when they watched them. We made a PNP video for M last year, but to be honest he was a little young and didn't really understand what he was watching. But this year is a different story. M is really into Christmas and is excited at the thought of him receiving his letter and visiting him in his grotto. Portable North Pole is a magical console…continue reading →
Monkey’s 2nd Christmas – 2013

Monkey’s 2nd Christmas – 2013

When we started preparations for Christmas, many people told us that M wouldn't be too fussed about his 2nd Christmas. They said he'd probably feel the same was as he did for his first Christmas. But we noticed that with each tree we saw and picture of Santa we passed, M was getting more and more excited. Whenever we were in the car he would squeal at the flashing Christmas lights that decorated the houses. We started thinking that perhaps he was much more aware of something special happening, than we gave him…continue reading →
Marks and Spencer ‘Spread Christmas Cheer’

Marks and Spencer ‘Spread Christmas Cheer’

Christmas is such a magical time of year. We love having a big Christmas all together as a family, taking the time to just spend time with each other. This year however, we were given the opportunity by Marks and Spencer to 'Spread Christmas Cheer' to a special family who have touched our lives. We were given a £20 gift card to spend on a special present, it could be anything we wished. The act of giving a gift doesn't have to cost a fortune, it's the thought you put into gift. We…continue reading →
Taking Photos at Christmas

Taking Photos at Christmas

Hayley is a photographer and one of the team behind I Heart Snapping She lives in Bedfordshire with her hen-pecked  husband, two adorable urchins and a grumpy old Bichon Frise. She loves  to photograph real people living real lives and she adores Christmas.  Her favourite Christmas film is the often overlooked Santa Claus: The Movie. My Grandad loved Christmas so much. I can still remember the living room of their flat, all decked out with multicoloured decorations. It was always completely OTT, even in 1986 it was tacky and every room smelt of…continue reading →

Little Things that make Christmas Special

Little Things that make Christmas Special

My memories of Christmas as a child are nothing but wonderful. Of course I remember the presents we were given from Santa, our parents, family and friends but they’re not what made Christmas magical every year. The things that really stick with me are the little things we did as a family. When my parents bought a video camera we would film the present opening every year. It would start in the morning, with us in our best clothes, sat around the Christmas Tree. Before we started opening our presents my brother and…continue reading →
