The Gruffalo’s Trail

The Gruffalo’s Trail

Last year C and I took M on a Gruffalo Trail round Moors Valley Park. It was raining, M fell asleep and C and I ended up filling in all the clues on our own whilst M snoozed. This year our experience of The Gruffalo's Trail was very different. It was an unusually warm day, M was wide awake and in good spirits and we were excited to see how much he enjoyed it. The fab folk at the Forestry Commission are helping The Gruffalo celebrate their 15th Anniversary. This meant our favourite…continue reading →
New experiences

New experiences

I love new experiences and I really love experiencing things for the first time with Clara. There is something special about both trying something new at the same time. This month was all about ticking something off our summer life list. We have always wanted to attend a festival and got the chance to visit Camp Bestival at the start of the month. It was so much fun and we loved every moment. Even though we were there as a family, it really felt like we were enjoying time as a couple as…continue reading →

Camp Bestival 2014 in Photos

I took a lot of photos at Camp Bestival 2014... A LOT! So I thought I'd share them in one post, for those interested in seeing the fun you can have at Camp Bestival. We really did enjoy our first ever festival and what made it so fun was the friends we shared it with. We can't wait for next year.   *We received a family pass to Camp Bestival. All views an opinions are our own.continue reading →
A selfie summer

A selfie summer

This summer has blessed us with so many glorious sunny days, that almost all our evenings are being spent on the beach or down the park. We've started to refer to this summer as the selfie summer, as I try to document our time together with a quick snap wherever we are. I'm quite good at getting my big camera out to snap memories of M. But when it comes to Clara and I, I'm quite content with a mobile picture. This month has been packed full of prep for Camp Bestival, birthday…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Orange is the happiest colour

Capturing Colour – Orange is the happiest colour

Frank Sinatra once said (or so the internet said) "Orange is the happiest colour". I would have to agree with him. When we started this week of capturing colour, I was a bit worried I wouldn't find much orange. When really, it's been right in front of me almost every day. I found it on M's favourite blanket, on his pajamas, in the park he laughs and giggles in and on one of his favourite t-shirts, we even found it as we enjoyed one of our happiest days this month. Orange is a…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Mellow Yellow

Capturing Colour – Mellow Yellow

This week has been one of my favourite Capturing Colour weeks. Yellow is such a happy friendly colour which makes me smile, so seeing the hashtag on Instagram light up brightly has been fab. I have loved how more and more people join in each week. What started as an idea I had about looking for colour in life  to make me happy, has turned into a nice little community of people sharing the colour in their lives. We've been busy capturing blue, red, green and purple and now yellow for the last 5 weeks…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Seeing Red

Capturing Colour – Seeing Red

For 6 weeks, starting last week, we've been capturing colour everywhere we go. We are really enjoying the challenge this provides and it's given me something exciting to stretch my photography skills with. Last week the colour we captured was blue, it was interesting how we noticed blue in places we'd not been aware of. This week our colour was red and I found far more red around than I had blue. It seemed to be everywhere, flowers I passed on the street, fruit in the fridge and t-shirts on the washing line.…continue reading →
Capturing Colour – Blue moments.

Capturing Colour – Blue moments.

For the last week 6 blogs and their authors/photographers have been capturing colours as part of a photography project, more to the point, one colour in particular. This weeks capturing colour was blue and boy have I enjoyed capturing it. Blue is my favourite colour, most of my wardrobe is blue, I once dyed my hair blue and it's a colour that despite it's association with sadness, it actually makes me really happy. The sky displays itself in some beautiful shades of blue, the sea can be a sparkling blue, my son's favourite toy…continue reading →

Capturing Colour – Photography Project

We like to see the happiness around us, no matter how small, we like to look for something that makes us smile. On a dark day a laugh or random act of kindness can mean the world to someone. This is something I've taken into photography lately. I love looking for the small details, the light when most can see only dark, the flicker of red in a sea of grey. I thought it would be a great idea to start a 6 week photography project capturing colour around us. I like even…continue reading →
Shoulder to shoulder we stand

Shoulder to shoulder we stand

The start of this month was full of unexpected events and sadness which really tested our relationship like any sudden rush of emotions can. Neither of us had ever experienced such a terrible week, so it was encouraging to see that in times of trouble we stand shoulder to shoulder. I really don't know how I would have got through the last few weeks if it wasn't for Clara and some incredible friends. This month's Me and You photo was taken the weekend after my nan and Clara's friend passed. We weren't in…continue reading →
