Happy adventures and arrivals

It’s safe to say, this month has been pretty amazing for us and we have a lot to be happy about.

We started the month by taking part in a challenge for Go Pro, who were working with some bloggers to find Britain’s Most Adventurous Family. Kirsty loves all things techy (as do I) and has longed to get her hands on a Go Pro camera, so you can imagine her excitement when we were offered the chance to review one and take part in the challenge. Although we received the camera in August, the challenge deadline wasn’t until the first week in September and we had an amazing time filming all the footage and also spending time and having a lot of fun as a family in the process.

We absolutely love to spend time swimming, it’s somewhere we feel very close and we always have the most fun. We try to take M at least once a week and have done since he was 8 weeks old. He is our little water baby. Since moving to Dorset we said we would hire a private swimming pool which everyone raves about in our local area, however, as life is, we never got round to it. We knew we needed to put swimming footage into the video, our little Monkey is so at home in the water and his confidence just amazes me every time, so we took the plunge (see what I did there?) and freed up an evening after work and visited the pool. We had the use of the amazing pool all to ourselves for a whole hour. We had an amazing time and we can’t wait to go back, we also got excellent underwater footage, which we wouldn’t have been able to get in a public pool.

We also got the chance to spend some quality time with my little brother J at the beginning of the month. My mum and J’s dad had to travel abroad on business for a couple of days, which was also at the beginning of the new school term, which meant he couldn’t go with them, so we offered to look after him. It was only for 3 days but we had a great time. We were nearing the end of the Go Pro challenge and the deadline was closing in fast so we decided to treat my brother and take him rock climbing one evening after school. Kirsty and J have always got on very well, so K took him to get some footage and to have some fun with him whilst I spent some quality time with M on the beach and feeding squirrels in the park. My brother J is growing up so fast and before I know it he’ll be a teenager and probably wouldn’t want to spend time with us very often, so we were very happy to have that quality time with him. He’s also a huge fan of YouTube and jumped at the chance to feature in our video challenge for Go Pro. They had so much fun at the climbing walls we are all going back at the end of the month.

If life has taught us anything these past few months, it’s to spend more time surrounded by family and friends as much as possible, so that’s what we are trying to do. M also loves being surrounded by his loved ones and it’s lovely to see him so happy. We also celebrated the birth of our gorgeous little niece Belle this month. My older brother and his girlfriend are going to be amazing parents, you can just tell by the way they look at her, just full of love. Growing up my brother and I didn’t have the best childhood and we have always been very close so it’s amazing to see him so happy.

One thing we are very thankful for in our life and what makes us happy is this blog and the community we have been welcomed into. On the 19th of this month we attended The MAD Blog Awards ceremony where we were up for Most Innovative Blog. When we first heard the news we had made it into the final 5 of this category, we were shocked and thrilled to be up against such wonderful bloggers, whom over the years, have had the pleasure to get to know. We never thought we would win, so when they called our name out, we sat there in complete shock, we just couldn’t believe it. As we accepted our award Kirsty made a wonderful acceptance speech, she has a brilliant way with words and I honestly could not have put it better. I on the other hand was very emotional and could not hold back the tears. We are so grateful to everyone who nominated for us and so privileged that our message is being heard and accepted.
