Milkshakes and Steak at Beefeater

It’s been quite a while since Clara and I visited a steak dining restaurant, as I’ve only just started eating meat again. We have passed the Beefeater in Weymouth several times and thought it looked like a fab place to take M, so we were delighted when we were offered some vouchers to sample their Garden Menu and awesome milkshakes.

We decided to visit on a weekend and found it to be very quiet when we arrived (a little late) at just after 3pm. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, interacting with M and making sure we had time to take in the whole menu. M was given a children’s menu, crayons and a little booklet to draw in. The little booklet for the children comes with a QR code that can be scanned by a smart phone to take you to a site where you can create your own Mr Men family.

M was a bit miffed that I didn’t have an app to scan the QR code, but thankfully Beefeater offers free wifi and soon I was downloading the app. We were given some time to consider our choices before ordering some garlic bread for M to start and we ordered loaded nachos with steak. I am a huge lover of milkshakes, so couldn’t resist ordering a chocolate milkshake. Beefeater offer five different flavours, including the limited edition ‘Strawberry & Clotted Cream’ flavour. My milkshake was delicious and it was obvious it had been made fresh, instead of an artificial milkshake.

Our starters arrived very quickly, which was great as M gets bored in restaurants, despite us colouring in, watching Netflix and playing games on our phones. M’s garlic bread was really tasty and was a decent sized portion for a two year old.

Our nachos were quite tasty, but we wouldn’t add the steak in future (which is optional at an extra cost). The flavours could have been a bit stronger, but the salsa was very tasty. We didn’t manage to finish it all, so it is certainly a sharing starter.

Our mains arrived shortly after our starters had been removed. I chose a Triple burger, which was three types of beef (not three burgers). The burger comes stacked high with One 1/4lb minced steak burger with slow-cooked pulled beef, beef rashers, fried onions and horseradish soft cheese. It was so tasty and very very filling. I managed to finish it but couldn’t finish the coleslaw or chips. Beefeater now offer ‘Unlimited Skinny or Triple Cooked Chips’ with any meal. I prefer skinny fries, which came in a choice of seasonings. I highly recommend the spicy seasoning as they were delicious and not too filling.

Clara loves a bit of steak, so she went for a nice piece , which came with a choice of fries or chips, tomato and mushroom. It was cooked to perfection and was quite filling, despite Clara not eating the tomato or mushroom.

Our little man had pizza, fries and garlic bread for his main and to be honest he didn’t eat more than the garlic bread and a few fries as he’s quite a grazer. But it was a very generous portion and came at a great temperature for a child to be able to eat straight away.

As we were wanted to sample the full menu, we opted for puddings, despite feeling a bit stuffed by this point. Clara chose a Chocolate pudding with a melted middle, I opted for a Banoffee pudding and M went for jelly and ice cream. Clara’s pudding was a little overcooked when it arrived, which resulted in the middle not being very melty, but my pudding was immense and an amazing portion size. I didn’t get through half of it before admitting defeat, but it was very tasty. M loved his big wobbly jelly and was soon defeated by it. But it was a generous size for a child’s pudding.

Our meal came to a little over £60, which we thought was a very good price for three people to eat a three course meal. We all left totally stuffed and declared we would visit again with family and friends. The atmosphere of Beefeater, Weymouth is really great and the staff were attentive and accommodating to all our needs. We were kept informed during server breaks and all staff had a smile and relaxed attitude. The decor was great, with lots for M to look at on the walls. We were also impressed by the toilet facilities, as now that little man is out of nappies, clean toilets are more important than ever.

If you find yourself in Weymouth and fancy a steak and a milkshake, Beefeater is worth checking out. I’ll definitely be ordering a milkshake during my next visit.

We’ll be staying the night in Weymouth later this summer. Nice to know there’s a Beefeater there as you know what you are getting there and the kids love everything on the menu thankfully,
