From pretty much the moment M started walking, he decided if there was something he could do, he was going to do it. We encourage our little Mr Independent and have watched as tasks we do for him, slowly got taken over by his capable hands. In a lot of ways M’s independence comes in handy, if you lose your glasses or put your wallet down somewhere, M makes it his mission to find it and return it to you before anyone else has to leave their seat.
It can be hard to document this stage, so many new skills are being learned and I don’t always have my camera to hand (KIDDING, I always have my camera to hand, I just don’t always want to thrust it in M’s face). But this weekend I captured Mr Independent learning to put his own scooter helmet on. It may not seem like much, but it’s another thing he doesn’t need his Mummies to do for him. He can pop on his helmet and scoot off into the distance without a care in the world and it makes me super proud.
