It was just a few weeks ago that we were celebrating our little boy discovering he could move his body across the floor. In terms of progress, he doesn't seem too interested in perfecting his army crawl anymore. For the last week M has only been happy standing on his two feet.
Monkey loves nothing more than standing, holding on to the sofa and jabbering away. After a few slips and slides he realised he could move his feet and shuffle along the sofa to grab remotes and Xbox controllers or an unattended iPhone. We thought this stage would be a long one, until a couple of days ago we noticed M was letting go of whatever held his balance and was standing on his own for short periods.
Tonight before bed we were encouraging him to get his balance when standing and after he had got his balance he took a step forward. We both screamed in joy which shocked M.
After many cuddles and a mini celebration, I set up my camera and pushed record on the off chance he would repeat his steps. After several minutes of back and forth, he caused even more joy when he took not only one step but a mini shuffle of steps.
I didn't realise my heart would feel fit to burst each time I witnessed one of M's milestones. He really does fill each moment of our lives with joy. He also looks set to keep us on our toes.
