Our weekend in Arrecife, Lanzarote

Last weekend we were invited to stay in an Airbnb for a weekend in Arrecife, Lanzarote. I’m not sure how much I can say about the reason behind going, but we were involved in a photo shoot, so planned for a day of relaxing and a day of shooting with the team.

We flew from Gatwick with EasyJet and hired a car to make life easier on the island. The villa we stayed in was only about 5 minutes from the airport, but due to us working off printed instructions we managed to get lost literally two minutes after leaving the airport. After roughly another 15 minutes we  arrived at the villa to be greeted by a lovely lady who showed us around our stunning home for the weekend.

When I say pictures do not do the villa justice, I mean every word. I spent a good 20 minutes wandering from room to room exclaiming how amazing it was. The villa was large enough to accommodate 10 people and had everything you would need for a relaxing stay. We were instantly drawn to the pool, despite it being freezing and were desperate to see M’s swimming.

We decided not to eat out on the first night so headed to a local supermarket to stock up on essentials. The great thing about staying in an Airbnb is that it is someone’s home, so we had everything we needed to prepare dinner and feel at home.

As we only had one full day to explore we made the most of it by driving into Arrecife and started our day by finding M a park to play in. We then enjoyed a lovely lunch by a harbour, saw some local performers singing in the city centre and discovered a museum of Arrecife.

The weather was beautiful so we were tempted back into the pool on our return to the villa. It was cold, but worth it to capture some fab shots of M in the pool.

Our second day started at 9 when the photographers arrived so take shots around the villa. We then got in the car for an adventure across the island. We drove North, stopping at a gorgeous hidden beach off a main road. Then it was lunch time at a lovely little fish restaurant with a view of the sea, before stopping at the windiest beach I have ever stood on.

The locations were breathtaking, with each view of the landscape giving the feel we had travelled across galaxies to be there. M and I pretended to be astronauts at one location that resembled the moon. It was a great experience to be part of and I am so thankful we get to enjoy weekends like this.

By the time we were ready to fly home we were all a little sad to be leaving. We would have loved more days to explore, but loved the locations we had managed to fit into our weekend away in Arrecife.

Was that funny little Rock at the end at Playa Blanca by any chance? Random question, I just thought I recognised it. wow Lanzarote for a weekend sounds like a real whirl wind tour. Looks like it is already lovely and warm there tough and what a lovely sounding villa. Glad you managed to see a little of the island and enjoy some summer warmth. The underwater pool photos are great.

Fabulous! What a gorgeous place, and your photos are beautiful. I could do with a bit of beach time right now (without the winter gear!) 🙂 #countrykids

Yup! Just been distracted from reading your Home Life Project post, by this one! Those pool photo’s of M are awesome and how blue is everything, the water, the sky – wow! I have just made my first Air BnB booking for next month, not a holiday, but actually a work trip where I had a choice of accommodation and I thought someone’s spare room would be much more fun than a cheap hotel!
