Last week I was invited to the launch of the new Stokke Steps – the All-in-One seating system. We are big fans of Stokke, so I was delighted to go along to see this new product. We love our Stokke Tripp Trapp, as you may know from reading our review so I was intrigued to see the functions of this new seating system.
The new Stokke Steps Highchair is designed to grow with your baby from birth to when your child is roughly 10 years old. They have tested the Steps to take a child of up to 18kg comfortably. So unlike the Tripp Trapp, this Highchair is not a chair for life, however it’s still a fantastic addition.
There are 5 different functions to the Stokke Steps seating system.
Stokke Steps Bouncer (sold separately from the Highchair) – This is a comfy bouncer, designed to mimic the movement of being cradled in arms. It does this by moving forwards as well as the usual bouncing movement. Having tested the bouncer at the event, it’s very easy to adjust and fold away. It also folds flat so very easy to store.
Stokke Steps Chair with Bouncer – Amazingly, the Stokke Steps Bouncer attaches to the Steps seating system. I think it’s a fantastic idea. Having struggled through meal times with Monkey when he was a young baby, it’s great to see there is a Highchair to raise the baby up at table height so you can all eat together as a family. Unlike the Tripp Trapp which also has a newborn set, which is very similar, the bouncer is a familiar space for baby to sit and it’s extremely easy to attach to the chair.
Stokke Steps Baby Set (Sold Separately) – This is a padded seat with a 5 point safety harness designed to support baby from 6 months+ or when they are able to hold themselves in the seated position. There is also a Baby Set Tray available with this seating system, which is a first for Stokke and I am very glad to see they have produced one. The Baby Set backrest is removable and had two positions to make more room for baby to grow. Just like the Tripp Trapp the footrest is adjustable.
Stokke Steps Chair – From 3 years+ the seating systems becomes a chair high enough for your child to sit up at the table without the aid of a cushion or step.
The Stokke Steps seating system is available in two different colours, the white plastic is as seen on all models and I have been informed by the Stokke team that after months of testing the white plastic seat is easily cleaned without leaving food stains behind. The seat fabrics come in 5 different colours. It’s always nice to add a splash of colour.
The Stokke Steps seating system retails at £159, which is the same price as the Tripp Trapp. The Bouncer, Baby Set and Tray are additional features with an additional cost.
*Travel costs were covered for me to attend.
