Last year, 3 bloggers calling themselves Team Honk, visited Ghana and raised a tremendous amount of money for Comic Relief. We supported their fund raising by hosting a Digital Postcard on our blog back in February. This year these three ladies came up with an enormous adventure to raise money for Sport Relief (the fit cousin of Comic Relief).
This adventure involves the passing of a baton from Lands End to John O Groats, by bloggers and their family and friends. It started it’s journey on the 12th of January and is due to complete it’s journey on the 23rd March. Go check out the Team Honk Relay’s full route to see if there is any way you can get involved.
Clara and I love to support a good cause, which is why we volunteered to scoot, drive and scoot some more to take the baton from our local town to Wimborne in Dorset. The baton arrives with us on the 15th, it’s being brought to us by the lovely Lynn and Sonya. These two ladies are transporting the baton from Dorchester which kicks off the Dorset leg of the relay. Clara and I will be scooting to our car, making a stop at Badbury Rings to take the baton on a lap round this lovely landmark and then scooting it into the hands of Joanne in Wimborne. Simply scooting the baton is not enough, we will also be wearing onesies to make sure we are seen as we scoot around town.
Joanne will then pass the baton to Kara who plans to take it on a tour of Poole and Bournemouth (there has been talk of a boat). Kara will then be passing the baton to one of the 3 founding ladies (Annie), who will take it towards the Southampton leg of the relay. If you’d like to sponsor the Dorset Team Honk Relay Team, you can do so here. We are aiming for £500 to work towards an overall target of £20,000. Just £15 raised could buy vaccines that help protect three children against deadly diseases. Even if you can just spare a couple of pounds, it all goes to a very good cause.
The lovely people at Mirco Scooters are very kindly sending us a fab adult friendly Scooter to allow us to scoot the baton around town. So massive thanks to them!
