One of the things we love about living in Dorset, is the quantity of beautiful places available for us to visit with both family and friends. We decided this year was the year we explored new fun places to visit and were excited when our friends suggested a trip to Upton Country Park.
On our arrival we met up in the car park, which is free (donations accepted) and headed towards the woodland play trail near the tea rooms. The boys were both on their bikes, so after a short time climbing, we decided to explore some more. I think we’ve only just scratched the surface of how vast the grounds are, so we are looking forward to returning to explore some more.
There were plenty of muddy puddles to splash in and huge logs to climb, though some were quite slippery, as our little man discovered as he went flying into a pile of mud. The trail we took around the grounds took us past a field of cows and onto a lovely little bridge over a swampy area. The boys loved exploring and were safe to ride their bikes off into the distance.
We didn’t sample anything from the tea rooms as we were heading to the Harvester for dinner afterwards, but it looked quite busy. There are also plenty of toilets, which is great if you have a little one that decides they need the toilet as soon as you arrive somewhere. We would certainly recommend Upton Country Park if you find yourself near Poole with nothing to do. We hope to return when the weather is slightly warmer so we can continue our journey round the play trail.
Have you visited Upton Country Park? Where do you suggest we explore next in Dorset?
