Welly walk at Kingston Lacy

I am so over the wet and  miserable weather. I am certainly not a fair weather adventurer, but there are only so many pairs of trousers I own and having to constantly wash Beau’s muddy paws prints off them is getting a bit tiresome. But I do love getting out and about, even in the mud, so a welly walk at Kingston Lacy was the perfect adventure last weekend.

The great thing about the woodland walk at Kingston Lacy, is that we can take Beau on it. The starts just to off the the right of the property at Kingston Lacy and takes you in a circle around a small section of the woods. about a quarter in to the trail there is a fun area with logs and a rope net for kids to play on. This section is usually heaving in the Summer, but the day we choose, despite the sun shining, was a quieter affair.

M’s a lover of the woods and was soon heading off to climb and explore. I love watching his little imagination grow with each adventure. There seems to be so much depth to his adventures now. We are usually on a space mission or exploring the jungle. It was quite funny when M got his welly stuck in a tree during one of these missions (as you do). Beau is also quite fond of the woods, he is limited somewhat by the short lead he has to be kept on, but he still manages to find a good stick or dig a muddy hole.

As we finished our walk we decided a hot chocolate was needed to warm us up. Our little tradition at Kingston Lacy is all about cake (they sell THE best Dorset Apple cake). So a hot chocolate and three different types of cake later (Clara/Victoria Sponge, M/Chocolate sponge and Me/Dorset Apple Cake) and we were making a dash to the car as it had started raining again.

We’re on the hunt for more woodland places to visit this year. So if you have any suggestions please do leave us a comment. Dorset/Devon/Somerset locations are preferable but we would also love to know about some great places further afield.

Wow, it looks amazing here, so much fun and they sell cake. I am so over this weather. Super G cannot get out and about much at this time of year so we are climbing the walls xx

We visited Kingston Lacy during a family trip to see Sharon’s extended family and it was stunning. The walk is so varied, which made it really fun. We loved finding the little play park and farm. We will no doubt visit again when we return to Dorset.
