Clara and I love to save our Tesco Club-card vouchers to spend on a family meal out. For the last two years we’ve been spending them at Pizza Express and decided that it was time for a change. We converted enough vouchers to be able to enjoy a three course meal at Zizzi’s and booked our table to celebrate C getting a promotion at work.
We’d initially booked our table for 5pm, but when we arrived at half 4 we were seated with no problem. The restaurant was quite empty and gradually grew busier whilst we were in there. Service was speedy and friendly, with several staff members responding to our request. We were seated opposite the open plan kitchen, which M really enjoyed as he got to watch his pizza and garlic bread being baked.
C and I chose Bruschetta and Risotto Balls to start whilst M ate some mini dough sticks. I love Bruschetta and was really impressed with their take on it. I have tried countless Bruschettas and was so glad theirs did not come smothered in balsamic glaze, Prezzo take note!
For mains the little dude went for a cheese and tomato pizza and a portion of bread brushed with garlic butter and rosemary. Clara and I ended up eating most of the garlic bread as M was really enjoying his pizza and we can confirm it was delicious. Both C and I went for the Wild Boar Ragu and were amazed by how tasty and filling it was. Neither of us managed to clear our plates due to the filling pasta. We felt we’d have been able to finish our main if we hadn’t had a starter.
All courses arrived nice and hot and very fast. It was great how attentive the staff were. After our starter I decided I fancied giving a cocktail a go and seeing as C was driving, I selected a Berry Bella. I loved the glass it was served in and enjoyed the tastes of Amaretto, vodka, dark raspberry, açaí berry & blueberry juice. It had a nice kick to it and I could see myself getting merry after a couple.
Dessert was really the cherry on top of a fantastic meal. M chose chocolate ice cream which came with a couple of baby cones and some popping candy, whilst C and I both went for the Chocolate melt fondant dessert. My god it was heaven on a plate!
Our whole experience at Zizzi’s was really lovely and we’ve decided we will certainly be returning for further family meals. There’s a whole lot of menu we want to taste!
